We welcome referrals from lawyers throughout Canada and the United States involving Canadians seriously injured or killed anywhere in the U.S.
Greg Lauer is a British Columbia-based lawyer with more than 20 years of U.S. litigation experience, including over 90 jury trials. Our firm handles serious personal injury and wrongful-death claims in U.S. federal court, regardless of which state the injury occurred in.
We have worked with referring lawyers for more than two decades and have paid substantial referral fees on successful cases. Some of our most significant recoveries have come from matters referred by other lawyers.
Referral Fees for Canadian and U.S. Lawyers
Our firm pays referral fees to lawyers throughout Canada and the United States where permitted by applicable professional-conduct rules.
We welcome referrals from lawyers who do not regularly handle U.S. personal injury litigation, as well as American lawyers who receive inquiries from Canadian clients and would prefer to work with a Canadian-based lawyer experienced in U.S. federal court.
Referral-fee arrangements are discussed and agreed upon in advance, with the client’s knowledge and consent. Referral fees do not increase the total legal fee charged to the client.
Referrals and Co-Counsel Arrangements
We recognize that referring lawyers have different preferences regarding their continued involvement.
Depending on the case and applicable professional-conduct rules, we can accept a referral and assume responsibility for the litigation or establish a co-counsel arrangement in which the referring lawyer remains involved.
Greg personally handles the U.S. litigation, including investigation, insurance coverage issues, discovery, settlement negotiations, and trial when necessary.
Our firm does not simply pass referred cases along to another American law firm.
